刘善堂，博士、教授、博士生导师，2000年博士毕业于北京大学化学学院，2000～2007年先后在以色列魏兹曼科学研究院，加拿大拉瓦尔大学，美国弗吉尼亚联邦大学等国际著名实验室从事博士后研究工作。近年来主要研究领域包括：1、纳米材料的合成及MEMS气敏传感器的研发；2、二噁英等环境有害物质的催化分解；3、重金属离子的电化学检测。先后主持国家自然科学基金3项（21471120、21071113、20873097），湖北省自然科学基金重点项目，武汉市学科带头人计划，湖北省教育厅重大项目等多项科研项目。在学术期刊上发表论文60余篇，申请发明专利22项，已获得授权专利12项。成功培养毕业研究生26名，在校研究生12名。毕业研究生中有多人在中国科学院、复旦大学、华中科技大学等高校院所攻读博士学位和在国内著名企业和上市公司工作。
